Tables and Playing Area
ROOKIE TT
Indoor tables - standard tables are 9 foot by four and a half foot. Indoor is the standard way to play. Recommended playing area to allow space for players is 19 foot long by 11 wide.
Outdoor tables - these can be used in private gardens or public spaces such as parks. Obviously weather is a factor, and difficult to play in wind. Great for warm and dry climates.
Smaller tables - are available for the with smaller spaces to play, especially at home. 7 foot, 6 foot. Still great fun!
Dining Tables / Ad Hoc - if agreeable to the family a table at home, perhaps dining table can be used for convenient play! Obviously be aware that the table will not be the same size if you make the transition to play on a real TT table.
Portable Nets - are great for the above, these roll out and attach flexible to an ad hoc table. Take the net with you and play wherever you go!
Conditions - these can vary. Some venues might have carpet floor. Some venues have more slippery floors, especially when the players sweat on to it (yuk!). Be careful on those! Lighting can vary. Playing area size can vary. Noises and distractions can vary. These variations are often encountered at local league play. Often these are interesting quirky challenges to overcome!
Nets - make sure it ia good quality, tight and taut.
Barriers - these can go between the courts at multi-court venues to prevent interruptions in play when the ball goes across.
